A great tool in the kitchen for keeping dry goods fresh in the pantry, or fresh food in the fridge. I use a vacuum sealer for freezing and I also hot-pack preserves and vegetables. This is an inexpensive way to add a third method for everyday consumables. Recommended.

I use the Mason Genie often, mostly to store coffee beans in quart size jars. If I'm going to travel, I grind the beans and store them in a jar so that I can have the brand of coffee I like when I'm away from home. I then leave the vacuum sealed jar at the home of whichever adult child I'm visiting so that I'll have "fresh" coffee when I'm there again. I have stored strawberries in a quart size jar in the refrigerator, and they stayed fresh for much longer than they ordinarily would. I keep the Mason Genie handy in my pantry and I find it very easy to use (though it can be a bit difficult to pull the device off the jar after sealing), because I use it so often. I have given them to all five of my adult children and bought more for my adult grandchildren, who will receive them as gifts this Christmas.

Received it a week ago, so I only have used it a few times. So far, I love it! It was packaged carefully, arrived in a reasonable timeframe along with directions that were very easy to follow.
The unit charged up very quickly, and I used it to preserve some vegetables I had in the refrigerator. So far everything still looks fresh, (but of course it’s only been in the fridge for a little over a week. ) I have no complaints with this product and as of today, I would recommend it.

If there is only a small amount of food in the canning jar, the Mason Genie device will not always seal the lid - it just pops off as you remove the device from the jar.
When the jar is half full (or more) the Mason Genie works perfectly and extends the freshness of the food inside.

Still working on with various things. I did notice that things in fridge are getting a little bit of condensation but still crisp after week. Doesn’t help with sliced cucumbers - crisp, but after 3 days, crisp but a little water soggy. Grape tomatoes still great after week.

It was delivered quickly but 2 of my seals were defective as rubber wasn't on them completely. I contacted customer service a week ago but still haven't heard back from them and nothing is resolved. Not very impressed at this point.

I absolutely love the vacuum sealer.
However, the widemouth jar opener has very sharp edges on it, totally unsafe to wash or handle.
