How to Layer Your Mason Jar Snack Bites

Make your jars look Pinterest-worthy and practical with neat, mess-free layers. Here’s how:

  1. Start with the oats – Always pour the oats in first to create a sturdy base.

  2. Add powders and seeds – Layer in your flaxseed, cocoa powder (if using), and chia seeds next. These finer ingredients settle better when closer to the bottom.

  3. Follow with flakes and cereal – Coconut flakes and Rice Krispies go next. These airy bits won’t get crushed this way.

  4. Top it off with the mix-ins – Mini chocolate chips, raisins, or any other sticky or chunky ingredients go last for easy scooping.

💡 Pro tip: Use a stainless steel funnel to keep layers clean and crisp. It fits perfectly inside both regular and wide-mouth jars to make pouring a breeze!

Don't Forget to Seal It

To keep your snack jars fresh and pantry-ready, seal them up with the Mason Genie. It locks in freshness and keeps everything crisp until you're ready to mix and roll.

How to Make:

In a mixing bowl, combine:

  • 1/2 cup peanut butter
  • 1/3 cup honey
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

Pop the seal on your mason jar and add the contents.  Stir until well combined.  Roll into 1-inch balls (makes ~20). Store in the fridge.

Tip: use a high quality jar opener when opening your mason jars to keep your lids from denting (like our Universal Jar Opener) - that'll keep them endlessly reusable!

Optional Add-Ins for a Protein Boost

Want to make your bites even more filling? Try mixing in any of these high-protein add-ins:

  • 1–2 tbsp protein powder (vanilla or chocolate work great)
  • 2 tbsp chopped nuts (almonds, walnuts, peanuts)
  • 1 tbsp hemp hearts
  • Swap peanut butter for almond or cashew butter for more variety and nutrients

🏰 Make It a Gift

These jars make a sweet DIY gift basket for Mother’s Day. Add a ribbon, a handwritten tag, and a Mason Genie to give the gift of freshness, function, and a whole lot of love.
